This design aims for a harmonious integration with the surrounding landscape. Building on the colonnade and the event hall, elements already present in the current building, the community center seeks to respond to the new, expanded program through architecture that complements and continues the existing landscape while creating an interior that is embracing, supportive, and caring.
The design includes three key functions: a flexible event hall, an accessible library, and an inviting brasserie, each connecting in its own way to the surrounding nature. In their design, these elements seek a unique, specific spatial experience linked to their needs and use. The intermediate and connecting zones are shaped according to the concept of the third space. In their scale and decoration, they transcend the functional, inviting social interaction, reflection, and creativity. These spaces can function autonomously or complement the main functions, thereby enhancing the building’s dynamism and versatility.
The principles of circular construction run through the design, not only through the use of reused materials and building components but also by reintroducing and strengthening a number of architectural principles within the existing concept. Recycled and local materials, advanced insulation techniques, renewable energy sources, and the reactivation of the surrounding forest are key elements that not only minimize the footprint but also provide an experiential, healthy, and comfortable indoor climate.
Building on these elements, the design aims to create a place where community, culture, and nature merge in a symbiotic relationship that enriches both the human experience and respect for the natural environment.
