Until recently, BS Kaleido and the Atheneum were located on a single campus. In a process-driven approach, LAVA architecten collaborated with GO! to explore multiple design scenarios in search of an efficient reorganization, aiming to create a refined living and learning environment.
Primary school Kaleido was relocated to the former neoclassical girls’ school. The original classroom wings were preserved as much as possible. Only the central wing was replaced with a new multifunctional building. This new volume centrally serves both the kindergarten and the primary school, while also separating the playgrounds.
Following the relocation of the primary school, the inner area of the Atheneum campus was opened up to create space, light, and air.
The industrial buildings were removed to make way for a single new structure: a large multifunctional sports hall that reorients and redefines both the interior and exterior spaces. The historic lyceum building is being developed into an administrative and educational hub.
